Pact ratings

In game terms, an Infernalist who enters in a Pact with a demon gains a few character points. With these points the player can buy new Investments or magical abilities: the level of each pact shows how many points that service is worth.

Level I: Malice
Small tasks and minor sins

Level II: Cruelty
Injuring, killing or corrupting one or two innocents

Level III: Immorality
Extreme Cruelty; sacrificing several innocents

Level IV: Wrongdoing
Actively spreading evil

Level V: Corruption
Leading others into evil; killing a major force for good

Level VI: Mortal Sin
Founding and leading an infernal cult

Level VII: Heresy
Large-scale corruption; founding and leading large cults, destroying sites of goodness

Level VIII: Grand Evil
Corrupting a city; founding a major Infernalist Covenant

Level IX: Life Bond
Dedicating entire life to the demon's every whim

Level X: Soul Pact
Swearing lifetime fealty to the Demon, and promising it the soul after death.

No further pacts can be made to the same demon at this point, although a truly nervy Infernalist might secretly strike Soul Pacts with several demons at once. (God helps him when he dies, however...)

   
Infernal Investments
(Infernalism: Path of Screams)

As its name implies, an Investment displays an odd sort of trust: the demon gives its servant a token of esteem in return for deeds it cannot (or will not) perform alone. If an Infernalist is foolish enough to make a pact then break it, her Investments disappear immediately and the chase begins.

Demonic Investments are not superpowers, nor are they employed easily. Most require an invocation to the demonic Patron and some physical effort. When a Fallen One uses an Investment, her aura turns dark red, then black; anyone with mystic senses can tell that dark forces are at work.

Some Investments include (but are not limited to):

Apportation (4 pts)
The Infernalist can enchant an item and bind it to herself. When summoned, the item will appear in the Infernalist's hands immediately.

Armor (varies)
Every point invested in Armor grants the Infernalist an additional soak die against damage.

Awareness (4 pts)
Adds 3 dots to the Occult Knowledge and the Awareness Talent.

Backgrounds (1 pt per dot)
For every invested point the Infernalist gains a dot in a Background trait.

Beast Form (3 pts)
The Infernalist can shape-shift into a beast.

Bond-breaking (6 pts)
The Infernalist is able to break bonds, open locks, and untie knots with a single incantation.

Claws or horns (varies)
For one point the Infernalist sprouts claws or horns which do aggravated damage. For an additional point the claws or horns are made retractable.

Demonic Strength (varies)
For every three points the Infernalist can increase his Strength or Stamina by one.

Devil's Eyes (2 pts)
With a glance the Infernalist can spoil milk, rot plants, and sicken children.

Goat Feet (2 pts)
The Infernalist's feet change into goat's hooves from sundown to sunrise.

Hellfire (3 pts)
The Infernalist can breathe Hellfire on her victims (3 dice of aggravated damage).

Invulnerability (3 pts)
For every 3 points invested in this power the Infernalist gains one soak die against all attacks.

Longevity (varies)
The Infernalist can buy extra years of life, five years for every point invested.

Luciferian Charm (4 pts)
The Infernalist is met with awe and respect wherever she treads.

Mammon's Gift (8 pts)
Once per night the infernalist may change a small object into solid gold.

Pan-Pipe Voice (3 pts)
The Infernalist can entrance listeners with her voice.

Regeneration (9 pts)
The Infernalist can heal wounds by spending 1 Willpower point for every Health Level to be healed.

Rejuvination (9 pts)
The Infernalist becomes a normal mortal human again.

Serpent Skin (3 pts)
The Infernalist can literally shed her skin to escape her bonds.

Service (varies)
The Infernalist can ask for a demonic servant to perform a specific mission.

Shameful Sight (6 pts)
By gazing into a victim's eyes the Infernalist can determine the victim's greatest sin.

Sign of Inferno / Hell Skinned (5 pts)
The Infernalist becomes immune to normal fires.

Talons of the Plague-Crow (8 pts)
The Infernalist sprouts talons that cause severe illness in those struck by them.

Uncanny Beauty (varies)
For every 2 points invested the infernalist gains one dot in Appearance.

Wings (3 pts)
The Infernalist can grow large, horrible wings to grant her temporary flight.
