The Mages (Infernalism: Path of Screams) True Mage Infernalists, also known as the Nephandi, know the Truth. They see Creation for the lie that it is, and dedicate their existence to strengthening the Void. Someone doesn't just become a Nephandus though. The path to Enlightenment, the "Path of Screams", is a long, hard road... Stage I: The Viper's Whisper Every Infernalist, whether he learns the Black Arts or not, reaches a time in his life where goodness seems pathetic. For whatever reason he feels the hunger of the inner abyss, and decides that he was never meant for a life of virtue. The curious Infernalist-to-be wanders into the night, in search of sin.... And he learns dangerous lessons. Stage II: The Tapestry of Lies If and when the Mists of Ignorance part for the magus, he follows a new fork in the Path. Deeper in the darkness, his groping hands fall upon new wonders and his searching eyes alight on new and cunning guides. Many Infernalists stop short at this point, either so overwhelmed by the Cold Thrusts or so dazed by what they've learned that they become lost in the next leg of the journey. But some continue onwards... Stage III: The Howl of Freedom Infernalists are a decadent lot. After a while, nothing - not even the wildest perversions he can imagine - can stir a Fallen One's passions for long. If he sees through the Tapestry of Lies, our warlock becomes a very powerful (and dangerous) man. Which is not to say that life becomes boring for him; quite the opposite - the closer he gets to the Pit, the more interesting his life becomes. Stage IV: Communion with the Absolute No game lasts forever. The Infernalist might live 1000 years, but he must eventually die. Even the most generous of Demons will not grant true immortality, and so the Path of Screams someday ends.... But how does it end? Damnation is the end station of Infernalism. An Infernalist is doomed, period. His soul will become the plaything of Demons, his existence will be reduced to perpetual agony. We all go to Hell... or do we?
